visiting osan base

i've been to osan air base, it's actually located in songtan where 6 stops from cheonan by subway. even i have been there before to eat tai food with my friend who worked in public middle school, i didn't recognize there is a military base.

If someone wants to visit military base.

*2 things are needed before going inside

  • ID card(from goverment or driver's license)
  • Friend who works on military service

the guade who works at front door check the ID of military guy who company with friend. and then write the company's ID number and name on some paper. and then go inside of the base. it's really big basement ( it's known for the widest military base in korea) we had to take a cab to dorm where we heaed. it was just like a piceful tree garden. he said it's abnormal to silent, usually it's really noisy. when i play with him inside of the military dorm room, there was a noise of air plane flying. i can't imagine i sleep with that crazy noise. anyway, we ate subway sandwhich, at the mall i was pretty nervous cause it was first time visiting. strangely, when i visited subway at jonggak(seoul) they never ask except for the kind of bread, but clerk from osab base asked me what kind of vegitable do i want or something vary careful question. i felt they care customers more than that of seoul. I drank "yoo-hoo chocolate water" i expect to drink milk, but there was chocolate milk (maybe military guys don't like chocolate milk). it tasted like cocoa when i worked for elamantary school students. and still good.

We watched 3 movies, and i'm so tired. it was good new experience.

why volunteer work?

I met a lot of people at volunteer work. i only applied for using language especially English.
there's 2 types of volunteer work.

1. Using specific skills - language, controlling software (Power point, edit program etc)
2. Using strength ( carry load, arrange seat etc)

I only apply for 1st type of volunteer work. it doesn't need any tiring work. the people who i met 1st type of volunteer work, usually have a experience living in other country while they studying or working whatever. they raised wealthy family and also have an experience of variety kind of activity. and they are so busy doing working of studying or other things. people always ask me how i studied English or if i have an experience to go abroad. absolutely i say i don't have any experience to go abroad. and i don't want to study abroad but i want to travel all around world.

they look at me very strangely. i think i'm very strange for them. i think my English is average level. i've seen a lot of people who speak English very fluently with clear accent. i'm trying to study English and experience variety culture meeting people who come other country. but i don't want to meet foreigner aim for studying English. i think it's rude to meet with getting certain benefit. though i hope to learn their cultural thought and sharing information from their experience, i don't want to learn speaking English talking. it will be bored each other, and at least they are exhausted building relationship better. anyway, i learn volunteer work during the vacation, people ask me why i do volunteer work without getting paid. i'll answer them i get better thing than getting paid. and it's good way to widen my view to see the world rationally.

UNEP orientation

jungang newspaper where orientation take place
lunch time, near city hall
I'm going upstair

2nd floor, seminar room
i hope i can be deajoen where the conference take place, but they want me to be at incheon airport. i think it will be bored to be incheon air port all day long. the positive thing is i can come back home if my work finished. i will try to go deajueon to watch the conference going on. instead of coming back home early. that's because i applied the volunteer work for the international conference from all over the world. it will be very exciting i expect a lot from this conference.

PIFF

I didn't expect i could pass the interview. although there were a lot of compepitive people interviewd together, i pass the interview. and i'm going busan August 7th to take orientation for volunteer work.
Thank God.

Assa-V(volunteer work)-Training

  • at jamsil in seoul, every tursday 10am.
  • immigrated women and some koreans get together to learn how to guide (woods, stream, ocean, wet land etc)

she's asking if she lets the medicine goes away into the sewage.

she can't speak Korean at all. i explained the meterial and lecture. since this is not language class but guide learning, words or sentence was too academical to understnad. like we've learned from high school science. before this lecture, i interprete the meterial(text book) from Korean to English about this instruction. it makes easier to explain something about lecture. i think language interprete needs not only fruent language skill but also other meterial knowlege. although i'm not aim for being interpretor in the future, i felt proffesornal job always needs a lot of effort to learn something constantly. that's what i've learned this summer vacation activity. i'm doing very well right now. :)

So we decide to have some last party. there were a lot of people playing games and talking. as a team leader, i've been there. and met many people who i don't know. there was even stranger who never participated the program. but they looked so friendly one another. the reason we can get together was that we were still young. I experience meaningful energy there. I will memorize all of teachers from the US. and i hope this program will be better next year.

I didn't know the palace exist in the seoul. on the other side there's bunch of shops to buy something. Here is really nice place to go. it was perfect timing to see how the guard swich there place. some of them appear the opposite site. some of them playing traditional instrument. even there's no hole on the traditional instrument, the people playing was really good at finding a the musical scale. 5minutes later, i got bored, i decide to go other side of the palace. but still they were awesome.

independence Hall-EV

English Village Students and Teachers went to independence hall today. It was too hot to walk. It worth going though. I tried to explain about the stutue and other historical things. i hope that they understand the relationshp between korea and japan. this chance make them think twice about this. it was too humid and hot. I was happy to be there once again. I had guided japanese and westerner when i was high school student. but it has so much diffrent. I even asked japanese how we can find the road to view. It's developing and worth visiting. Moreover entrance fee is totally free. if someone wants to visit this place, ask me. I'll definetly give a guide.
